Describe what you did and why?
Our very first Scarecrow Festival in our area of Ingleby Barwick. The event helped raise our profile and highlight the fact that we are active in our Neighbourhood. It was a great opportunity to bring an enjoyable event to our community. We also wanted an event that all age groups could be involved with.

What worked well?
Despite the pandemic, this event was enjoyed by many. They could create their scarecrow at home and display it on their front lawn. No need to be concerned with social distancing. Local care homes and businesses also took part.
How did you overcome any challenges?
Advertised partly on social media. Emailed entry forms. Borrowed suitable gazebo for prize giving and crafting event on the bank holiday Monday.
How did you cover any costs?
A grant from Neighbourhood Watch.
