This event will lift the lid on the reasons young people can be drawn into knife crime and also some practical advice for parents and grandparents who are worried about young people.

Stephen Lawrence Day takes place on 22 April every year, on the anniversary of Stephen’s death. A national moment of reflection and a call to action. Each year, Stephen’s life is honoured by inspiring individuals, schools, and communities to drive change.

Speaker - Anoushka Dunic

Anoushka is Training Programmes Manager at the Ben Kinsella Trust. She leads the design and delivery of practical, engaging training. Her programmes help people better understand the causes of knife crime and give them the confidence, skills, and tools to support young people at risk of harm.

Drawing on over two decades of frontline experience as a Uniformed Police Officer, Detective, and Gangs Engagement Officer, Anoushka brings practical insight to every session. Alongside her policing career, Anoushka has also worked in the Mental Health sector, giving her expertise across a wide range of critical issues including trauma, youth violence, gang association, exploitation, knife crime, mental health and wellbeing. Her commitment to tackling these complex societal issues is grounded in evidence-based and trauma-informed practices. Since 2018, she has specialised in delivering high‑quality training for parents, carers, youth practitioners, educators, police services, health professionals, and teams across the private sector.

Anoushka brings together real-life experience and professional knowledge, helping adults better understand young people and respond with empathy and confidence. As both a parent and a passionate advocate for youth safety and empowerment, she is committed to equipping the adults who support young people, providing them with the insight, tools, and confidence to help young people lead safe, healthy, and meaningful lives.
