A number of major retailers are still deciding how to allocate the money from the new plastic bag levy which was introduced in October.
Environmental charities are looking like the biggest beneficiaries so far according to this article in The Guardian, but some stores have still not decided how to allocate the funds. This leaves an opportunity for Neighbourhood Watch groups to enquire at local stores such as Morrisons, Sainsburys, M&S, the Co-op and Waitrose, where decisions are made locally rather than by the central office.
Waitrose can also be contacted on customersupport@waitrose.co.uk or 0800 188884 and Morrisons is encouraging charities to fill out a form on its website in order to be considered.
